In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025, we sat down with Kate to talk about her career, the role of women in leadership, and what it takes to drive real change.
Q: Can you describe your role at Fusion Worldwide and give us a glimpse into a typical day?
As SVP of Global Marketing & E-Commerce at Fusion Worldwide, I shape strategy, keep priorities on track, and empower my team to deliver results. From branding to global campaigns to digital experiences, my focus is on creating seamless, customer-centric interactions that move the needle.
Marketing is a blend of creativity and data, and I thrive in that space. We test, iterate, and refine constantly—every decision driven by data, insights, ROI, and a rapidly evolving market.
To reset, I take a walk along Boston Harbor during lunch, then jump back in. The work is fast-paced, unpredictable, and incredibly rewarding—just the way I like it.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being part of Fusion Worldwide, and how does the culture here support women?
What I love most about Fusion Worldwide is the energy. It’s fast, dynamic, and full of people who see opportunities and make things happen. If you have the vision and drive to improve something, you get the space to run with it—and based on my experience at other organizations, that’s pretty special.
Leading our e-commerce platform is a tremendous privilege. It’s a critical solution for our customers and a testament to Fusion’s commitment to digitization—ensuring buyers can engage with us however they choose. Whether through high-touch, face-to-face interactions or seamless 24/7 digital access, we’re giving them the flexibility they need. At the same time, I get to stay sharp, constantly learning about the semiconductors and hardware driving innovations like AI, IoT, and edge computing. Being at the intersection of technology and marketing challenges me to grow every day—and I love that.
Fusion also walks the talk on inclusion. Women are supported, empowered, and valued for their contributions. It’s a place where great work is recognized—no matter who you are. You don’t have to fit a mold—you can lead, grow, and succeed as you.
Unlimited opportunities, a culture that lifts people up, and a team committed to excellence, customers, and the business—these are just a few of the things that make Fusion an incredible place to be.
Q: What does International Women’s Day mean to you personally, and how does the theme ‘Accelerate Action’ align with your vision for the future?
International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the incredible impact women have made and recognize the work still ahead to achieve true equity. For me, it’s also a moment to honor the women who have inspired and supported me—and to double down on making the path easier for those coming next.
This year’s theme, Accelerate Action, really resonates. Progress shouldn’t be slow or incremental—it should be bold and intentional. That’s how I approach leadership and life: by creating a culture where ideas are valued, talent is nurtured, and barriers are broken—not someday, but now.
My hope for the future is simple: that every woman feels empowered to bring her full self to the table and has the tools and opportunities to thrive. If we each commit to action—whether through mentoring, advocating, or innovating—we can create real, lasting change faster than we ever thought possible.
Q: What advice do you have for other women striving to break barriers and accelerate their careers?
My biggest advice? Take the risk, trust yourself, and speak up—even when your voice shakes. Growth happens outside your comfort zone, so don’t let fear stop you from going after what you want.
Stay focused on your goals, but be open to new opportunities—you never know where they might lead. Challenges aren’t roadblocks; they’re stepping stones. Work hard, stay positive, and believe in yourself, even when others don’t quite see your vision yet.
And most importantly—lift as you climb. True success isn’t just about breaking barriers for yourself; it’s about creating space for others to rise too. With grit, faith, and determination, there’s no limit to what you can achieve.
Q: If you could encourage one actionable step for individuals or organizations to take on this International Women’s Day, what would it be?
If I could encourage one action this International Women’s Day, it would be this: Uncover and nurture untapped talent.
For individuals, that means asking yourself—who’s not being heard? Who might need encouragement to step into the conversation? For organizations, it’s about looking deeper than surface metrics to identify hidden gaps that may be holding people back.
As women leaders, we have a responsibility to create spaces where everyone feels safe to contribute, take on new challenges, and step into their potential. That can be as simple as inviting a quieter voice into the discussion or showing someone their perspective matters.
Real progress happens when we don’t just see the gaps—we take action to close them. When people feel seen, heard, and valued, they rise. And when they rise, we all win.
Kate’s Words of Wisdom: Don’t Be Like Teflon. Make Your Ideas Stick.
International Women’s Day isn’t just about celebrating progress—it’s about owning our power to create change. And that starts with speaking up. For too long, women have been told to stay quiet, blend in, or second-guess their worth.
Early in my career, I was told to be like Teflon—to let things slide off me, not take criticism to heart. At the time, it seemed like solid advice. And sure, there are moments when resilience matters—when you need to let unfair criticism or self-doubt roll off and keep moving forward. But here’s what I’ve learned: when nothing sticks, neither does your impact.
Being “like Teflon” teaches women to avoid conflict instead of facing it, to prioritize harmony over impact, and to second-guess ideas that deserve to be heard. But real growth, real change—it happens in the messy, unpolished moments. The ones that demand tough conversations, bold moves, and the courage to stand firm, even when it’s uncomfortable.
So this International Women’s Day, I want to remind women: Don’t be like Teflon. Be brave. Speak your truth. Let your ideas stick. Because that’s how you leave a mark no one can ignore.
