Meet April Peterson, Fusion Worldwide's Director of Risk and Compliance. April joined Fusion in 2022 and brings over 20 years of experience in risk and compliance management. In her role, she oversees various programs to protect the company from fraud incidents and cybersecurity threats. She takes pride in constructing frameworks and operations from the ground up. This approach has been instrumental in creating a “best-in-class” program that enables real-time assessment of orders to ensure compliance with export regulations.

“April Peterson has been an incredible leader in developing and directing our risk management and mitigation strategies,” says Paul Romano, Chief Operating Officer at Fusion Worldwide. “She is forward thinking and detailed in her approach, tireless in her efforts, and is never afraid to act on issues. She continues to bring innovative solutions and programs onboard and is a champion for her team and the company.”

April’s innovative solutions are part of why she is so well suited to risk management, as she enjoys that no day is ever typical. The threat landscape is always evolving, and regulatory compliance requirements change constantly alongside that evolution. As a result, everyday entails trend analysis, incident investigations, and monitoring new tactics employed by bad actors.

Consistent adherence to these aspects of risk management allows April to expertly maintain evergreen operations programs, promote training and awareness across the company, and advance the organizational policies that drive governance. These programs protect Fusion from losses, legal risks, and reputational damage. Furthermore, the success of April's department is an integral part of fostering loyalty and trust with customers.

As the leading open-market distributor of electronic components, Fusion's effective export program is critical for preserving compliance with global export regulations. April’s team designed a sophisticated network of controls that ensures that the proper classification of products, screening of restricted parties, determination of licensing requirements, and documentation of due diligence have all occurred before shipment. The network of controls has helped to streamline the review of orders, reducing shipment delays. It has also made it easier to close risk gaps in order to minimize the risk of export violations.

Throughout her time at Fusion, April has developed an appreciation for the fast-paced nature of the business and the company's resolve to solve supply chain challenges for its customers. She advises anyone looking to join Fusion to challenge the status quo.
