Employee Spotlight: Meaghan Washington

Fusion Worldwide – a place where you can advance your career.

Meaghan-Washington1Meet Meaghan Washington: captivating, smart, enthusiastic, savvy, and persistent. With less than a year under her belt as an Account Executive at Fusion Worldwide, she has already been promoted to Business Development Manager.

Meaghan came to Fusion in February of 2015. She had been working in real estate for several months, but her background is in Grocery Trading. She is a college graduate of Suffolk University, where she graduated Magna cum Laude, with a major in finance. So, how did the bilingual (did I mention she also speaks Spanish?) girl with a degree in Finance wind up in Sales? In a candid response she joked, “I realized pretty quickly I didn’t like spreadsheets as much as I thought I would.” The finance world’s loss is our gain.

So, what is Meaghan’s secret to success?

As mentioned, Meaghan came to Fusion with a background in a form of trading – she was a Grocery Trader. This definitely gave her a leg up on the competition. While it is a different product, much of the ideas remain the same. She chose to come to Fusion Worldwide since she enjoyed the broker feel, but recognized the industry she was in was not growing at the rate she wanted. Fusion afforded her the opportunity to use her trading experience, as well as offered the challenging environment that she craved. She instantly was excited to see that the desks could rise if people felt like standing (sometimes it’s the little things!), and that the atmosphere was “Lively, but not a Zoo.” I’d say this is a great fit for her personality.

When I asked her what her insight was to new prospective employees, she responded “Work hard and you will be rewarded.” After speaking and working with her, this is definitely a motto she lives by. Not only does she work hard, she also connects quickly with others. She takes a friendly, yet informative approach to closing deals, and most importantly: she listens. Hard work and natural ability have led to her success.

Meaghan’s reaction to the CEO, Peter LeSaffre’s initial offer of being considered for the role is indicative of her success. When I asked how she responded I figured I might hear “anxiety” or “nervous” – instead her response was simple: “Yes.” She recalls that there was no hesitation, she just felt flattered to be considered. Her willingness to face a new challenge, combined with her raw ability made her the perfect candidate for the new role.

Peter told me, ‘You can take a couple days to think it over, talk with your fiancé if you would like and make sure this is what you want.’ I just responded: No, I’m good, and I would love to be considered for the role.”

In her own words Meaghan is “Persistent, but not pushy.” She made as many dials as it took to get through, she asked for help when she needed it, and she would never turn down a challenge. It seems this answers our original question: this is the secret to her success. Meaghan’s story has to be one of the more rapid promotions Fusion has seen, but certainly not the first – nor the last. She is an excellent example of how Fusion Worldwide is dedicated to advancing its employees’ careers. We are all excited to see her embrace her new title and continue to excel.
